Jackson Hole is a dream destination for cyclists — but the altitude, terrain, and sheer number of options can feel overwhelming for newcomers. Here's how to start strong.

Start on the Pathways

Jackson Hole's paved pathway system is the perfect entry point. The Path22 pathway connects Jackson to Wilson with stunning Teton views and zero traffic. It's flat, smooth, and ideal for getting your legs under you at 6,800 feet.

First Trails to Try

For your first dirt ride, head to Cache Creek and ride Putt-Putt. It's a gentle, flowy loop that builds confidence. Snow King's beginner flow trail is another great option if you want to try lift-served riding.

Altitude Matters

At nearly 7,000 feet, you'll feel the thin air immediately. Hydrate aggressively, ride slower than you think you need to, and take breaks. Most visitors acclimate after 2-3 days.

What to Rent

Local shops rent quality hardtails and full-suspension bikes. For pathways, a hybrid or gravel bike is perfect. For trails, rent a trail bike with at least 120mm of travel.
